CEL on 3 days after I bought the car.
Here we go. The CEL light came on only 3 days after I bought it. The codes are P0128 Thermostat, P0137 O2 Bank 1 Sensor 2, P1189 Oil Pressure Circuit, and P1811 Max Adapt Long Shift. Are these problems as bad as they sound or am I worring for nothing? I drove the car 400 miles, it runs and drives great and I got 27 mpg. I love the car but now I'm a little worried.

That being said, I have also had a problem with P0128 (Thermostat) and P0137. Does your temp gauge work in the dash cluster? Mine stopped working and I had to replace it (and I replaced the coolant sensor and flushed antifreeze while at it). The thermostat is only $10 and can be fixed pretty easily.
I don't know about the other codes, I'm sure someone else will help you soon!
I have to agree with Furder2010 on the codes being cleared before you got it. Anyway, I fixed the p1189 code on my 2001 with the 3.4 engine very easily by replacing the oil pressure switch. On the 3.4 it was on the front side of the engine between the starter and the last spark plug on the right. Part was under $10. I did have to get a 1 1/16 3" deep well socket to replace it. They sell a 'special' oil pressure socket also but for my part this worked perfect at half the price. It was a five minute fix.
The temp guage reads about 160-170. I bought a new thermostat and oil pressure switch that I'll install this weekend. I also bought an O2 sensor and put a bottle of lucas transmission treatment. We'll see what happens.
Results?
I had to work the weekend so I didn't get much done. The Lucas seems to be working. That code hasn't come back yet. I'll post the results of the other fixes soon. Thanks everyone for all your help. The dim radio and odometer lights when the headlights are on still has me stumped. My son's mother in law had the same problem dut never had it fixed.
Replaced the thermostat, oil pressure switch, O2 sensor, and coolant temp sending unit as long as everything was apart. Added a bottle of Lucas to the transmission. Approx $85 total. All the codes are gone and the check engine light is still off. The car runs and sifts great. Thanks for all the help. There seems to be a small amount of anti-freeze by the intake. Is the intake leaking a common problem. Will stop leak help or should I have the intake gasket replaced? the only other problem I have is the odometer and radio numbers are too dim to read when the head lights are on.
