Default AFTER you bought your Cold Air Intake...

Did you think it was worthwhile and added performance? Why....

I am contemplating buying a CAI for my 07 LT from Cold Air Induction, but if they really don't help, are made poorly, or they are cheap and breakable, I do not want to buy one.

Opinions please...Good and bad. I want a TRUE cold air intake and it would be good to gain some throttle response and perhaps 5 horsepower (crank as I doubt it would even make 2 at the rear wheels).

Thanks,

i would say go for it, you may want to see if other members with the same gen say but me personally i have a 6th gen and went with a fenderwell intake, i like the sound and i like the throttle response, i will be switching back to a aftermarket box simply because i dont want my pcm taking on to much of engine heat

Cold air inductions are very well made, you wont be disappointed in that. if you are looking for 5 HP crank then that's about right as well.

The bad is only rare and as far as i can tell only happened to me and one other member, the CAI housing was hitting a ground wire and over time broke into the wire and caused all sorts of problems, make sure when installing all wires are CLEAR and you will be okay

i have a 07 ss thats tuned, and I STILL rock my stock box, lol. Im not gonna waste 230 bucks for 5 hp. I put everything else a priorty over that. Ill make my own eventually but until I pay off my car completely, my stock box is sitting right where its at. Now i did replace my ruffled tubing for better flow, but thats about it. That right there made everything feel smoother.

And dont use a put in CAI filter, they let rocks into your throttle lol, use a regular paper filter for best performance until you get a SOLID CAI box, meaning sealed for cold air.

BTW the cold air inductions CAI has a place for your PCM inside the housing so it wont get any engine heat.

I am very happy with mine. After having a K&N I know that CAI is top notch. My intake temps are only 10-12 degrees over ambient with it installed.

It was said to not use their filter it lets rocks in.....that is untrue. I haven't had an issue with any type of debris getting past the filter and I have been running their filter for over 2 years. There was a thread awhile back that a guy did some tuning on his car and the CAI box netted him 6whp over the K&N.

I have a CAI Inc. airbox, well made, i'd recommend that one, it has a place for your computers. As far as rocks getting in, i dont see how thats possible, the filter is closed off. And you do know these cars are front wheel drive right?

I have the Cold Air Inductions box on my Monte. I would say, yes, there is a little boost to power with it. Nothing huge, but it's there. The most noticeable difference was the sound that the CAI makes. I have exhaust on my Monte and with the CAI, the engine sound/ exhaust took on a whole new sound, which sounds awesome.

I also have a tune and I think the CAI helps even more when you have a tune that is utilizing it.
