carpet replacement
I'm still dealing with a leaky interior, and hope to have it fixed once my new door weather stripping arrives. I'm not sure what to do about the carpet. It's been out of the car since Saturday, and the foam is still not fully dry. On top of that, it has a horrible smell. I'm running a dehumidifier in the garage to try and dry it out at which point I plan on hosing it down with Lysol to try and kill any mold or mildew that may be growing in it, but as this will only get anything on the surface it may take a long while for it all to die and the smell to go away. I called the dealer and they quoted something like $750 for a new carpet. I do see a few online sources that sell them much cheaper, but i would think that would be without the foam backing. Have any of you replaced your carpet, and if so where did you get it and how did it fit? Did it have the foam, or did you have to improvise?

Bought new carpet for my Monte as I wanted a different color. New carpet came without pad, but I dyno-matted my whole floor board and added the carpet right over it. Seems just fine to me, don't remember where I purchased it from, some online store. My OEM carpet if I remember right had something similiar to a thick felt pad in addition to limited foamed areas. What car do you have. I need to get rid of my old carpet. It's from an 02 Monte and is the tan / beige color. Pretty decent shape still, have all the felt padding still too.

The smell is usually mold in the foam. Just go to lowe's or home depot and get some new foam, usually comes on a roll. Just throw it in the car, cut where needed and put your old carpet back

My carpet was so bad I Pulled it out and took it to the carwash and hosed it out, holly crap talk about black water. I found some construction A-frames and draped my carpet over that for a few days with the heater fan going. It worked pretty good but i still want to find new carpet also. I'm trying to rid my car of the chain smokers smell.
