Well I rented the scanner from Auto Zone, and the even though the dash cluster showed an engine code light, the reader said their were no codes. What is my next step, I am trying to do this on my own to reduce the cost, and I enjoy working on the car.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

you need to take it to a shop that has an advanced OBD II reader. Or see if the autozone code reader works...After you plug the code reader in, you need to turn your key to "on" but don't start your car and then hit the "read" or whatever button it is to start the diagnostic run.

My car('99) is having a similar issue. The other night stopped on the way home came back out and no start(no cranking) all power works. Had it towed and the shop found the theft relay fuse had blown. So okay here I am two days later and same issue happens. I had picked up some extra fuses(mini 10a)and replace it and now it blows instantly. So it has been towed to the shop again. What route should they be looking for?

Car is fixed. I feared it would be a wire in the steering column grounding out. Thankfully it was not. It ended up being the neutral safety switch wiring that leads into the transmission. The way it is routed let it rub on the brake line and rubbed the insulation off the wire to ground it out. Wire was repaired and rerouted so it will not happen again. Thankful it wasn't very costly.
