one day i was driving and had my foot on the accelerator and all of a suddden the more gas i gave it, the more it would bogg out, and when i slowed it down and stopped it would idle really rough and then die, but it starts fine, and when you rev the engine, it kinda surges at 4000 rpm. i replaced my fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, and a throttle position sensor, none of it did a bit of good. can anyone give me some advice on what else it could be?

 

i also wanna add that i just installed my pioneer cd player, i bought a scotche adaptor for an easy hook up to my factory speaker wires. but the problem is, when i drive with the radio on, me speedometer stays at zero, and when i turn off the radio it goes up to whatever speed im going, now i dont know if this has anything to do with my car just now breaking down but it could have fried some kind of sensor or some wires.....help me out here

 

close this thread. it turns out when i installed my cd player i crossed a wire seing as how there was about 3 wires in each color. lol. it fried my comp and led to alternator problems. new alternator and comp $500 problem solved

 

hey Kevin had the same issues after about a grand found out it was the cadilatic converter my monte is a2002 ss our warranty covered the converter because the car had only 60.000 miles and the warranty is 8 years or 80.000 miles.after the dealer changed the computer, egr valve and what ever else they did. now our cigg outlet and interior lights want work fuses good.

 

it could be the coil packs wires and plugs for that motor and it also can be what bochase 1 said as well about the cats going bad its hard to tell
