I was browsing and came across this cabin air filter.




Now I remember a post a while back about this filer but was unable to locate it.

Here's my question, do we have one of these in our '06-'07 Montes? If so where is it and has anyone switched theirs out yet?

I've had this car since Aug. '06 and have driven on more than my share of dirt roads so I figure that it probably needs replaced if I do in fact have one, or atleast blown out.

 

Yes,the '06-'07 Monte Carlo does have a cabin air filter.It is located on the passenger side,below the plastic cowl cover beneath the passenger wiper arm.Here is the replacement procedure directly from GM Service Information...........

[/align]Passenger Compartment Air Filter Replacement [/align]
Removal Procedure
[ol]Position the windshield wipers in the UP position, by keying the ignition OFF when the wiper reach the desired position.
Open the hood.
Position aside the rear hood seal halfway to the center. Refer to Hood Rear Seal Replacement .
Remove the washer hose from the right air inlet grill panel and position aside.



Remove the 2 push pin retainers from the right air inlet grill panel.
Important:Do not remove the third push pin retainer from the right air inlet grill panel.
Position the left side of the right air inlet grill panel on to the windshield.
Remove the water deflector cover.



Remove the passenger compartment air filter. [/ol]
Installation Procedure

Install the passenger compartment air filter.
Install the water deflector cover. Ensure the three tabs of the water deflector engage the rear cowl edge.

Does a 03 monte carlo have this as well?

 

I think every new chev that as the air exchanger has one.

You deserve a cookie casue I am getting a werid smell when put the air exhanger.....might open the cowl and check this out tomorrow.

 

When I got around to finding mine ... after looking all-over behind the glove compartment ... The Forum came to my rescue with the info as to where it is too ...

When I got the thing out ... It was Soooo badly clogged I couldn't imagine air passing through it.
You can cut slivers of an air freshener an put the slivers in the vanes of the new filter for a nice smelling cabin when you switch-on the A//C

Yes, the 03 has oneas does the 01. Procedures are the same.

 

I've looked all over the place, no wonder I couldn't find it, it's buried, LOL.I'll have to golook again.

What's the recommended interval for changing these? 12 months, 12k miles?

I have no idea how my '06 was driven before I got it? Maybe it was taken down the dustiest roads in the midwest on a daily basis? It's possible if I were to check this filter I'd swear it came from ancient Egypt?
