Cabin Air Filter
Just wondering..........has anyone ever replaced the cabin air filter in their Monte Carlo? The owner's manual recommends changing it once a year or every 15000 miles.
Are there any special tricks or problems to watch out for?

RE: Cabin Air Filter
Well,I replaced the cabin air filter in my 06.The old one was really pretty dirty, dirtier than I expected it to be for only 10500 miles. It took about half an hour total.Donutboy 97 is right, getting out the trip pegs is the hardest part.I did see they sell replacement ones in a bubble pack for GM cars at the local parts store,in case you destroy them pulling them out.The filter was a bit pricey though at $24.95.It might just be my imagination, but the AC seems to blow better.

The smell could be from mold and dampness in the ducts, but a new filter would be worth a try.If the filter is clogged, the air won't circulate as well, and then moremoisture will remain in the system.

RE: Cabin Air Filter
It is under the plastic molding/cowl vent below the right windshield wiper. You run the wipers and shut off the key when they are up.Then pull off the washer hoses. Then pull the trip peg clippins.(my car has 3 of them)At that point the cowl vent panel should come off.On the right side there is a flat plastic water shield that is held on by 3 tabs.Pull that off and you will see the filter. It is about the size of a shoe box lid.It just sits in there.Pull it out, slip in the new filter, and re-assemble everything.
