It was only a matter of time, i have been driving this car like this for the past 2 years. and i have had enough of it. Sitting at a light the light turns green give it gas and guess what the car won't move. give it about 4 or 5 sec. then it would bang into gear hard, the bad part of all this is, 95 per cent of the time it will not do this. Car only has 46,660 miles on it, never ever burned rubber, never race anyone.Yes, from time to time i do have fun with my car but i'am not 17 i'am 55.I do take great care of my monte. So she sit's at the chevy dealership waiting for the new transmission to come in.I did have the trans service last year and the pan was clean. thank god i still warrenty, but still, no way should this trans. with this low miles go.But i keep reading that many are these problems,like on the ls4 fourm, wow is it bad.

 

True but sad.....The trans in the 06-07 Monte Carlo's are their weak point...Mine has about 73k on it and maybe once a day it will do what you described but not nearly as bad. I will just have to cross my fingers, knock on wood and hold my rabbits foot all at the same time and hopefully I can avoid this. Cross that bridge when I come to it lol

 

Its to bad the trannys are junk 84k on mine when it let go such a shame

 

took 3 yrs for my tranny to explode,,while driving on the highway,,,not a fun experience and with a huge truck right behind me,,,the car totally stopped from 120km/hr to 0km in 5 seconds,,my replacement is starting to go already,,its a crap car the V6

 

im now going thru my 2nd transmission,,under garantee from the one they changed last yr,,even though they said it is not the cause of the symptoms= press gas normal,rpms go redline,but car barely moves,,loud clicking under the car followed by a pop wen the gear gets in,,im told it is a broken head bolt,,which wen i walked in showed me,the top bolt came right out and broken in half,,so,40$ new gasket and they`ll do it tomorow since they had the engine on for hours looking for the transmission issue,,wen the engine is cold,,they mentioned im getting high resistance on my throttle body and my motor generator as well, so im getting acdelco ones im not taking a chance,,this car is nice to drive,everyone gives me thumbs up at the lights,,but,,its killing me $$ wise,,im sorry to say,,its a piece of **** im getting the SS and screw the gas economy,

sorry i forgot to mention, even after the diagnosis i decided to get a rebuilt trans,since this one is not too bad they offered i said yes do it,,

it was not the transmission,,it was vss, speed sensor,,72$,,,sweet,,,
