Default Bluetooth OBD2 scan for abs/transmission codes?

I have an older BAFX 1.4 Bluetooth obd scanner that i use with Torque and it's the best investment! I'm now searching for a Bluetooth scanner under $75 that can scan abs and GM transmission codes, can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have the gTech Bluetooth scanner. With the Torque II app..
They really are Great!
But for the ABS and Trans, I believe only a GM Tech II scanner will read them. Something about Proprietary Programming!

The ABS/Trans code data is not limited to the GM Tech II. It's not so much the hardware, but the software driving it.

Such as I have access to a Snap-On MT2500, it's an older scan tool and even though it stops supporting cars after 2001, I've used it to it's full functionality for GM's like the 2000-2005 Monte/Impala, it still works but when you input the VIN data, you have to change the character for the year so it "thinks" it's a 2000 or 2001. This is because the tech it interfaces with hasn't changed (but I'm sure there are cars after 2001 from GM that this tool won't work with because GM did begin switch from VPW OBD-II to CANbus ODB-II and this tool does not do CANbus).
Also, I have an ELM BlueTooth adapter from eBay. I forget the name of the application, but I have an app on my laptop and you can purchase different modules for the app (I have the GM module) and it let's you read ABS codes as well.

For the needs of most people, reading the check engine trouble codes is what they need and for the most part is universal between ODB-II compliant cars (so scan tools to read those codes are readily available these days). Beyond that it does become manufacturer specific. I'm sure there is other software to drive a lot of these BlueTooth tools and read the ABS data (but they may not be free like others are).

Thumbs up

Thanks , you were spot on with this post. the torque software must have the limitations because i took a risk and downloaded a $7 app called Car Gauge Pro and surprise surprise....i was able to read the transmission codes. It also checks abs and other codes.

$7 app? Can't beat that! Thanks for sharing the app name. No doubt, plenty of other people will be interested in that info!

I checked out the Car Garage Pro app. It look good. Many more Functions than the Torque II. I'll have to keep it in mind and find out if it is compatible with my BLUETOOTH OBD II. I would love to be able to read my ABS and Brake Systems, they will have problems more often than the transmission.
