Default ABS scan, shows rear left malfuntioning speed sensor

the shop has told me that in order to replace the rear left speed sensor, i have to change the whole bearing unit as well because they are attached to each other.

is this true?

can i just replace the sensor only?

Yup, gotta replace the whole hub, but the harnesses often go bad and are a much cheaper part to replace.
