I never had a problem with my red top optima, owned it 2.5 years and sold it with my olds. Held up to my horrible bumpy dirt roads and minnesota winters all wile powering the subs. Maybe I just got lucky lol

Haven't had any issues with RED TOP, it's been about year.

Duralast has gotten good reviews.

A year after I bought my 05 the original battery went dead so I replaced it with another delco (got a deal cause my fiance's friend works at a body shop and got a discount).

A fine choice, especially in the Silver line. Gold is solid as well, but gets a bit pricey sometimes. Having grown up in the 70's and 80's the old Die Hard commercials with cars in a dark parking lot covered in snow where the only one that would start was the one with the Die Hard is burned into my memory permanently. That being said I have an Interstate installed now that is three or four years old and have never had an issue with it. After 25 years driving and several batteries bought I would purchase either Interstate or Die Hard again, no question.

Hrm, just went over to Sears' site and looks like pretty much everything is Gold now with Platinum being a higher grade. Guess they have changed things up a bit.

Default Optima is the way to go

I've had my yellow top optima for 12 years, used to run some pretty high powered stereos (4000 watts) and drained it down at least 20 times. I load test it every 6 months and it still makes 740cca. I live in southern Ontario and see a pretty harsh winter. This battery has survived 2 accidents that the cars didn't. It's been in 5 cars and trucks throughout its life and still does the job everyday.

I wrote to Johnson controls about it and they actually offered me a brand new battery if I shipped my old one back to them (at their expense). I kinda want to see just how far it'll go now. 12 years still going strong!!

i've got good to say about interstate. I have one in my horizon and i left the lights on for an hour one day and it still had enough juice to crank the car up and re charge the battery. No idea what my monte has, buried under the support arm and washer fluid tank

x2 on interstates. I've had one in my monte for more than a year now. It always cranks hard. Seems to be pretty robust too. I would buy again.
