Default Bad radio reception

Does anyone know why the radio reception (both AM and FM) would become almost non-existant suddenly? It was fine and then one day this past week it wasn't. This is an '03 SS that my wife bought new. The reception has always been fine.

As suggested in the owner's manual, I checked the connection clip at the top of the rear window and it seems firmly attached.

Nobody scraped or even cleaned the inside of the window lately (NEVER scraped)

possibly one of the connections on the back of the radio wiggled lose, pull out the radio and check them. the ant one is off the the right side if you look at the radio from the front.

I was hoping that someone would come up with a possibility OTHER than a loose connection where the ant wire goes into the radio, simply because I can't see any way to get the radio out. Any tips there?

You should be able to unbolt the screws on the right side of the dash and pull that half of the dash away slightly giving you enough room to reach behind the radio through the passenger side.

there is a fair amount of room on top and behind the radio so just getting the dash off a little is all it should take to get back there.

I have 2 antennas on my aftermarket headunit and still get iffy reception. Recently I installed an antenna splitter to use the factory antenna along with a compact electronic amplified antenna in my alpine headunit. The stations come in a little better, but for the most part it's annoying and not listenable. I think it's a problem of poor factory antenna and poor amplification in aftermarket headunits.
