intermittant radio reception
Start car, no sound from radio. Drive a bit and sound gradually appears. Drive a bit and sound fades away to almost completely inaudible and then returns to set volume for no apparent reason. Does this on a continuous and random basis while driving. All gauges are working. Occurs regardless of tuned station.
First suspected a loose antenna wire but driving on rough road or sitting still makes no difference. Rear window antenna connection is tight.
Second suspect could be loose main speaker connection but again, rough road or smooth road makes no difference.
I suppose, like just about any other electrical problem, it could be within the BCM. But, for sure, no radio at all is better than a radio that decides to conk out mid sentence or mid song.
I did a "radio" forum search and could find no similar problem.
Any ideas or suggestions? 01 MC/SS or any other model or year?

Amp or the radio itself. I'd guess the amp. Make sure all the wiring to it is tight, not been pulled on. In case you don't know, it's under the rear window tray in the trunk. I think it has a spring clip at each corner, and removes easily without screws, I think. (mine's been gone for years)
