Is there anyway to eliminate Displacement on Demand, thus eliminating the oil consumption? Like can't you just put some fancy chip in it and keep it running on 8 all the time? Wouldn't that solve the problem? If so, please tell me if there is a way or such a device that could do so! Thanks!

yes you if you get a tune they can eliminate it. Diablo tuners can if you have an 06. overkill and trifecta can do it for 06-07. Not 100% but i am sure you could with a superchips

Hi everyone,

I was looking at a few websites on the gas milage stats on the 06 SS .

It said that Cruising range on the vehicle is 476 miles (760 km) for straight hwy driving, which was calculated by (17 gallon tank X 28 miles per gallon).

There is absoultely no way I can see myself getting 476 miles on a tank of gas. Is that even possible? I know its an estimate but can we say a huge over estimate? The best I did in a 6 hour straight hwy drive was a crusiing range of 340-350 miles and I was driving about 70-75 mph during the trip.

So I have calculated my MPG fuel economy. I usually do a mixture of city and hwy driving and I'd say on average get 280 miles per tank. If i do the calculation (280 miles / 17 gallon tank = 16.5 miles per gallon. The EPA fuel consumption stat is 18 mpg so its somewhat off.

How do you guys calculate yours and what is your fuel consumption stats? I dont know if somethings wrong or not.

damn, like the one thread i hadnt un-subscribed from ... thanks for dredging up my active subscription list and getting an email today for this ...

but since im here, slugger- any where near 300 miles per tank of mixed driving is fairly accurate ... but remember, youre not completely emptying a full 17 gallons, pay more attention to how much you add when you fill up and use your trip B setting to start a log every time you go to the gas station ... and keep a little 50 cent notebook in your glove compartment, do three columns, total mileage at fill up, miles traveled since last and total gallons added ... mark the date and such each time and be accurate ... takes you maybe an extra 20 seconds when pumping gas to write every thing down ... and then do the calculations and such after a few to get your averages ...

and i did a 20+ hour drive once in the monte on **** tires and varying speeds and was averaging around 300-375 miles per tank, but i wasnt pushing it very low because gas stations are not routine things coming from the south to the north

p.s. ... i really miss my car ... not that i dont love my new one, but i really miss the looks i used to get, now i get looks because people think im a cop rather than a guy to race

dr jesus, thanks for the response, sorry to bother you with that email from the subscription to this thread. LOL.

I realize im not emptying the whole 17 gallons but the last few times I have actually driven until I heard the fuel level low chime and a bit more after the DIC said I had a fuel range of 70 km (im in canada) or for you guys it would say about 40 miles?? when the fuel low chime comes on?

So I am pretty near empting the whole 17 gallons wouldnt you say? How accurate is the fuel range anyways, not that I want to try but if you hit 0 km fuel range does the car conk out right there and then? Im sure know one has actually done this.. lol
