I've got till August 2012 or 100k... will they let you renew the warranty after 100k? That would be a good investment; yet, I don't think they'll sell it at 100k? I could be wrong?

Have you had any warranty issues with those headers? They'd probably try to deny your warranty because of them? They've been known to deny a warranty just for having a CAI...

They have to place some type of deflector to keep oil pressure from blowing out the rings/seals. The fix is new pistons, rings, seals, and deflectors. Look at this link for the TSB. I also have the same one in my posession and it came from the dealer. My work is already scheduled. If you're "lucky", you'll have the problem while you're under warranty; otherwise, you're SOL... (This is NOT, nor will there ever be, a recall)....

NOTE: Just realized there's a whole page missing on this TSB... It informs dealer to replace pistons, ring, and seals... Also mentions the deflector and authorizes the replacement of pistons, rings, and seals immediately under certain circumstances... then adding deflectors after they become avaliable... I have no idea how to post it?
I believe i am a "lucky one", because I do not have this problem. Also, it is not an LS4 design flaw. This happens on the truck motors and the G8 motors with DOD or AFM.

The first step is adding the afm shield. If this doesn't work, then they do all of that other stuff you said.

i havent had a oil consumption. approximately 48000 miles. i only had dod active for about 500 miles and i bought the car with 15000 on it. would disabling dod/afm be a solution for this?

yeah... if you're running dod and your not loosing oil YET... you're unlucky; if there was nothing wrong with the design, then they wouldn't be adding the deflector. in addition, the second page of the TSB states that in most cases the seal replacement wont be enough... they need the deflector to "prevent" the problem. i didnt mean to imply that is was ONLY a LS4 design flaw; what i was saying is that it is a ls4 design flaw, and more specifically a dod flaw. granted, they dont want to change pistons and rings, why would they? they'd much rather pass the problem on to you when your warranty expires. when you get at least 30k miles on that car, since you said you only had 6k, pull those plugs and you'll see that they are fouled with oil... Either way, with time, you'll have the problem. lucky or unluck, you'll end up in service like everyone else.... (unless you disabled dod)? The dod is what causes the problem...

in addition, the truck motors have dod, which is why they had the problem... you'll soon see. Like i said, i just came from the dealership and as soon as the deflector is avaliable, pistons, rings, and seals are all being replaced.

Your the real lucky one! if you disabled the dod before the problem then your good; its the dod that causes the problem. i spoke with the engine tech, who is also a friend, and he explained that its a design flaw with the switching between 4 and 8. as long as you arent burning oil and you stay in 8, you're golden! (Lucky You)! I wish i had gotten tuned....
