Well the fuse panel is in an access area on the side of the dash on the passenger side. When you open the door you should see a access panel right there. Im not sure if that is where the fuse is for the lighter tho.

According to my manual for my 98 monte carlo, The cigar lighter is fuse #1. However it is also for the instrument panel.

If you happen to have a manual, its on 6-56, 6-57, 6-58, 6-59

The quickest way to check(and cheapest), is take out the fuse, and look between the coloured section. If the wire in the middle is broken, you know the fuse is dead. You should also be able to know if the instrument panel doesn't work. So at night, when your headlights turn on, does your gauges and stuff as well? If they don't its a bad fuse. If they do, you need to start testing your lighter, and what not

Hopefully this helps to show what I mean. The metal strip of wire in the coloured section. If its not connected, its a bad fuse. It'll most likely be burnt near the top of the arch.

Uhh, Not much. If i remember correctly, the last time i picked up some, i got 6(2 of the 5 watts, 2 of the 10 watts, 2 of the 15 watts) for 5 dollars. Fuses are cheap. If that doesn't work you'll have to start testing your wires. Why do you need your lighter anyways?? Smoking in your monte?

no not smoking then i wouldn't go throuhg the hassle of posting it on here to get some info from you guys. They have these neon lights that go in to the lighter socket that I can put on my dash they're pretty sexy, but when I got them I didn't the lighter worked. If the fuse doesn't work then it's the wires and I'm not going through that justy for some lights
