2001 SS check engine light on, temp.stays at 140 both fans kick on at start up and run up to 4 mins after engine is shut off, heater blows hot air. I am going to have the codes check tomorrow after work but thought maybe someone could give me a heads up. Thanks guys.

Its your thermostat most likely. Thats what my issue was. It gets stuck open and screws everything up.

Hey Enzo354 got home from work and tried your advise and replaced the thermostat. At first both fans kicked on at start up. I drove the car and within 1/2 mile the temp. started to come up and fans kicked off. Got home and shut off motor and restarted two times without the fans running. So I think you may have saved me money and time. I do have one other question. The check engine light is still on. Can I pull the neg. cable on the battery to reset it. I know on my 1991 Blazer I can do that. Thankyou so much for your time and knowledge.

Your welcome, and I think you can unplug it for a while. Mabye have someone with a scanner check it out.

if there is no problems it will go out after about 40 drive cycles but having it cleared after you know what it was is best with a scanner

Hey man thanks. I was on my way to a friends house and the check engine light went out. He checked it for me and the code was still there so he cleared it and all is good. Thanks again for the input. I have learned alot about the car just by coming here and reading. Bunch of good people..................

Hello,I had a problem with the temp gauge staying at 140 degrees. Heater blew hot, fans worked as they should. Found that the temp sensor was bad.Replaced it and gauge works fine now,190ish. 99 Z34 3.8. Getting to the sensor was a bit of a pain to remove, but me and my buddy Fuzzy did it. Muley

If you think the sensor was bad try getting the power steering pump off
