Does anyone know what it means when the abs,trac off lights are on and the message window says service traction system while I'm driving but there is no difference in the drive. I heard it could be the alternater but I need to know for sure any advice would be greatly appreciated. Oh and its a 01 Monte LS

It means that most likely one of your wheel hub assemblies is telling the car that it is not receiving the proper signal. This shuts off your ABS and TRAC control.
An ABS code reader can tell you which sensor is throwing this code.
It could also just be a dirty connector (they can pick up water)
