This may sound stupid, but I recently purchased an 06 monte and on the top of the dash is what appears to be an alarm system deterrent light. However the light doesnt come on and Im not sure if there is an alarm system in my car or not. Is there anyway to check?

 

On the dash is the sensor for the automatic head lamps. Your car DOES have an alarm. The easiest way to tell is to lock your car witrh the windows down. Reach in and open the door from the outside. Your alarm will go off.

 

Nope I tried that but nothing happened

 

You rolled the windows down, got out, closed the door, locked it with the keyfob , reached in and pulled the lock (not hit the unlock button) then tried to open the door from outside?

That's the exact steps you'll have to take for it to go off. Hitting the unlock button or using your key in the door will disable it.

 

I followed that step by step and still nothing
