Default Factory alarm system ? for all you 06 MC guys

I just noticed the other day, when I pop the trunk with the remote and the doors are still locked the horn sounds like I pushed the panic button as soon as I lift the rear deck lid. I don't know if it supposed to do that or not, stopped by the dealer yesterday on the way home and asked. First guy thought there was a problem but wasn't sure, second guy said it was normal and the system isn't smart enough to realize the trunk was opened with the remote and thinks someone is breaking in.

The question I pose is: Would you lock your doors and open the trunk with the remote andpost upif this is normal or if my service writer is a knucklehead and I need to get this fixed.

Hi Ed,
When I had my 06LT3, I could have the doors
locked, & open the trunk with remote &
not have the alarm go `off.
Have you tried to use the remote to unlock the doors, &
then hit the remote for the trunk ? Does the alarm sound then ?
Did you look @ your owner book & see what it says
about your remote operation.
(I don't havemy bookany more, but `if you don't have yours ?,
maybe a member with one can check it out)
There's a section in the owner's book on remote operations.
Good Luck, `Space

I notice it only when I pop the trunk from a long distance and walk up and open it.

I'd say he's a knucklehead, only time I've ever had my alarm go off is was when I was messing around with the interior and somehow hit the lock button without knowing so when I went to open the door BAM! It went off and scared the crap outta me.

I've never had it go off by way of the trunk, I'm about to go for a cruise anyway so I'll see if I can lock then pop the trunk and see if it goes off.

If I unlock the doors first it doesn't happen. If I hit the trunk button on the remote and it unlatches it doesn't sound until I actually open the deck lid. Sounds like what you said Solara maybe it is normal. I think it is another of GM's oversights of the incredibly obvious. You would think the system would be smart enough to recognize when the right remote pops the trunk whether the doors are locked or not it uses the same receiver.

Read the Manual [sm=insomnia.gif] When did they change that, I thought ity was against man-law to actually read manuals.

It could be a glitch or anomoly, or it could be something planned when you wait a second too long to open it.

I have often popped the trunk with the remote when the doors were locked, like when coming out of a store with stuff to put in the trunk, and the alarm never went off.

I just talked to a different dealer and she said it should not go off if you open the trunk with the doors locked. She also said it might be a programming that can be changed through th DIC.

Please don't think bad of me I guess I will have to break man-law and read the manual when I get home.

Thanks for the help guys, that's why I read MCF and occasionally post.
