ORIGINAL: rj

I had this much problem the day I unknowingly removed the filter box cover. Then fought with it for 45 minutes calling it every cuss name I could think of before it gave up and saw things my way.
LOL. Sounds exactly like my experience when I installed my True Flow filter. I didn't think I'd ever get that damn thing put back together.

For anybody that hasn't installed a K&N in their Monte. take off the Air Intake Boot FIRST!
(This will save you afair amountof cussin')
Take a clean rag and wipe out the inside of the Airbox.
Fit the filter into the Airbox.
Make sure you get the tabs on the bottom of the Airbox lid lined up (if you don't this'll drive you nuts), clamp the the lid down ( if you have to force it, somethin's out of alignment)

Jump in, mash the gas, and haul a**! You'll notice your throttle response is much better.

I hope this helps anybody thinkin' about installin' a K&N
