Hello all, I've got a 1998 Monte Carlo. Bucket seats with center console. When the temp outside is cool, I have to let the car warm up to get it out of park into drive, sometimes up to 10min. When it's warmer I have no problem. Any ideas on this subject?
Thanks!

Thats very odd. I have a 97, but column shift and never havethat kind os issues. Even with its incased in ice.
Maybe someone else with a z34 can help you with that.

When it won't shift, try to rock the car a little and then try to shift. I've heard sometimes that a little rock can throw it out of park.
Do you park on a flat surface or an incline?

my dad's 96 likes to do that, but i can get away with jiggleing the shifter back and forth & the button & it will come out.... you said in cooler weather, though.... well, mabe the safety swich / sensor/ linkage or whatever is hanging up? or mabe the linkages themselves are coming loose? we had the shifter linkage fall off of the 4 speed in our '57
it would not go into gear & then the linkage fell off... if you have a set of ramps, pull the car up on em and do some investigative work, lol.
