97 LS Rear Brake Line Leak Need Help
I have a 97 LS with the 3100 V6. My brake cylinder in the rear driver side went the other day and I replaced it along with the brake shoes on that side. I haven't gotten to the other side yet because of some issues.
But basically the problem was that once I changed the cylinder and shoes the line got a hole in it located above the center of the rear axle. Like right in the middle of the car where the 2 arms connect. This is my biggest issue at the moment and needs solved first. So my question is this. Just how difficult is it to change that line? It looks like it is pretty well packed up in there. I do know how to change a line so my real problem is can I get at this and how bad would it be? Any suggestions welcome there.
The other issue which might not matter is the shoes on the side I changed. Even with the cylinder fully compressed and the adjuster dialed back the drum was almost impossible to get on. Those shoes are rubbing pretty good. Should I worry about that or just run em and burn a bit off till they aren't rubbing? They aren't rubbing hard enough to slow the car unless it is almost completely stopped already then you can feel them halt it slightly.
Anyhow like I mentioned that rear line is a real issue. Also once the rear line got the leak I lost the front braked completely as well so it is not drivable until I fix this in my driveway. Is it normal to lose the front when that section of line leaks? I had front brakes before that happened even with the line off of the cylinder I changed.

Problem solved going after a new car. Everything I touch on this thing turns to dust. This car is terminal. It is actually kinda terrifying that I was driving around in this thing when it was that bad lol. Gonna go check out a stealth and an alero tonight and see what those look like.
Sorry I had a 3rd gen duster actually 2 of them and both had the exact same engine this one does which is also shared by the 3000 and those motors are solid.
I understand this is primarily a chevy fanbase here but a good car is a good car regardless or loyalties
I have had the best luck with chevy cars in my experience and they are some of the easiest to work on as well but I have also owned a lot of great cars outside of the brand.
Except ford couldn't pay me to drive one having owned a few in my day haha.
