78-88 Monte SS cluster with tach in non SS 84 Monte
I have a 84 Monte, the speedometer was physically damaged, so when I looked for one I found a whole SS cluster with a tach in it, and I want to install it in my car. (It is nearly identical besides a tach where my old one had a big clock.)
does anyone know what is involved in connecting the tach? is it just a matter of running the tach signal from the distributor to one of the contacts that the instrument cluster plugs into? if so are any resistors or capacitors needed inline with the connection?

could anyone with a 4th gen (probably 3rd gen too) Monte SS tell me if they ever noticed, does the tach signal off the distributor go straight into a loom / through firewall, of is there some kind of "tach filter" it is ran through first?

could anyone with a 78-88 monte ss let me know where it looks like the aux tach signal wire goes from the distributor? theres a power wire, and a tach signal wire. do they both go into a loom, or does the tach signal go through something else first?
