1st Gen ('70-'72): 72 brake light issue
#2
have you tried testing the socket with a test light while having somebody hit the brakes? also is the hazard lights the same as the brake lights? if so do they work? i dont know about the first gen montes but i had a buddy with a early 90s camaro(i know totally different car) having a brake light issue and it had to do with the actual switch under the pedal not bottoming out. i know you said youve changed everything but a second look is always good.

Thanks I will ill probably replace the hazard again.. i noticed on the turn signal switch i replaced there is 2 copper contacts, one was folded over the other, they should be separated right? Thanks I will recheck that brake light switch

Sounds like a brake light switch to me. If all of the turn signals and such are working, then the sockets and grounds should be fine at the sockets and with the wiring. The switch may not be bad, but it may need adjustment. It's been awhile, but I believe the switch threads into the pedal housing. You could try adjusting the depth of the switch first to see if that makes a difference.
