If you had a solenoid replaced, and the fluid flushed, and you are still having rough shifts in traffic when the transmission gets hot.. you probably have another bad solenoid.

Where did you get the work done? How long ago, did it have any type of warranty??

A shift kit will shorten the shift times, which can help aid in preventing the wear and tear of a transmission. For the 4t65-e transmissions, heat and lack of fluid care are the number 1 reasons for a fault. A transmission cooler PROPERLY installed is a very good investment, but not a sure-fire fix.

Hi,

I purchased the vehicle in november of 2009 with 115,200km on it. After putting 4,000km or so I noticed a violent shift pattern especially in 4th with no MIL. Soon thereafter the check engine light came on with P1811 max adapt/ long shift. I left the problem for a little over a month driving it normally with no problems. Everytime the check engine light would come on I'd send it to my mechanic to clear the codes, until one morning I got stuck in traffic and it began shifting erratically so I had no choice but to send it in. This was at about 124,000km or so. Mr. Transmission did it for $450 (because they knew my dad), I've had other horrific check engine lights with this vehicle within only 15,000km of me owning it. 1) transmission solenoid 2) thermostat 3) catalytic converter 4) o2 sensor. All these repairs with no warranty .
As of now I am SES free and the only time the car shifts harder than usual is when I've been driving for an hour. It seems normal, but I dont mind spending a few extra dollars to help the system run more effeciently and problem free in the long run. God knows how much I love this car, and I've put a crazy share of hard earned money into it. I'm sure you guys are the same, and you can understand where I'm coming from. If you guys have anymore advice that would be greatly appreciated. As for the shift kit I might purchase it from 3800performance.com, but I wouldnt know where to look for a tranny intercooler. Thanks again guys.
