Default 3100 to 3400 swap

Is this possible?? I heard you can just swap the top part. I need to know what has to be done for this swap. I want more performance but cant afford the 3800 supercharge swap. Just looking for a little direction.

I would say it really depends on which 3400 you're going with. If you're going with a 1999-2005 GM 3400 engine, run screaming in the other direction. They are plagued with problems. The most common problem is the annoying habit of the lower intake manifold gasket leaking. You might be okay if you put Loc-Tite on all the bolts and torque them down REALLY WELL.

During my time on a Grand Am forum, I know there was a company that made a turbo for the 3400. But quickly stopped production for some reason. So there are a few of them out there, but it's a matter of finding an owner who is willing to give it up. You may have some success in looking for the turbo on a grand am forum.
