Maybe I should have went that route again as getting answers form people in fourms is like pissing in the wind. If you have an answer just post it . Here it is again, WHAT SUPPORTING MODS ARE NEEDED and what pulley size?????????? Also how much more HP?????????? Thats pretty plan I think.
First of all, try posting in one of the engine sub forums instead of general tech- you'll get more engine specific people in there. Also, if you checked in those sections, you'd see the 3800 mod plan sticky that chibi posted

Secondly, don't get crappy with the people on here, or you won't get any help- same goes for any forum. Getting super defensive in your 3rd post on a forum is a good way to get kicked out. Some people just don't read posts all the way through before they reply.

Thanks Nitehawkjcb. That was what I was looking for. ANSWERS. If you have time, could you email me some to the things you mention in detail? I understand all of them but as far as a throttle body, what size and out of what? Exhaust I understand. Those are things I have done myself. Cold Air intake such as a K&N Cold Air Kit? Thank you again
Read the sticky that chibi posted- and do some searching, all of the info is already out there without nitehawk having to retype out stuff that is posted all over these forums.

We can't tell you exactly what mods to do, or what size pulley to get because you haven't told us what you want to do at all. We need to first know how much you want to spend, and how much power you want, then we could give you a more specific plan. Because the difference between putting on a 3.4" pulley and a 2.55" pulley is night and day as far as 'supporting mods' go, and also as far as budget goes (stock pulley is 3.8").

Nitehawk was just generalizing the basic 3800 mods, some pulley sizes require all of them, some of the pulley sizes require almost none of them- hence why we need more info from you 1st. No one wants to waste time telling you how to run a 2.55" pulley if you're only looking to spend $1000, you know?

Default I feel for you

I have a 05 monte and I changed the stock pulley to a 3.4 Modular pulley. (meaning you install a universal plug and you can change plies in about 10 minutes after that). Pulley sizes range from 3.8 (stock) down to 2.4. Anything smaller then a 2.8 will need nose modifications. To minimize pinging I added a cold air intake and I have never had any issues other than keeping the wheels from spinning.

If all you have is a CAI on a 3.4 you are going to lose your engine quickly.

x2 scary thought.......I have CAI, 605 plugs, 180 thermostat, GMPP cat back, 3" catted DP soon, and I want to drop from a 3.8 to 3.6 safely, I think 3.4 would be out of the question for me.

Trust me you will have no issues. I have had this setup for over a year running 93 oct fuel. I don't drag race and rarely dog it out but I know I have the power if I need it. If you want to drag the car on weekends go with a 3.5 and 93 oct fuel.

anythings possible as long as u have working knock sensors and some way of scanning the car. first mod that should ever be done is adding a scanning device of some sort. i picked the aeroforce gauge Aeroforce Technology - ARF - ARFFD - Aeroforce Interceptor Gauge - Displays Different Engine Parameters & Trouble Codes
one of the few respectable suppliers of 3800 parts

Ultimately, bumpin is the guy to listen to IMO. But 50 HP is do-able on the pulley swap if all the supporting mods are in place (to keep from blowin' up). But it is more complicated then just that. To the MCF, bumpin96monte wrote the book in this stuff. Chibi posted the link.

lol @ everyone- check the dates this was posted, my last post in here (post #11 was on 3-11-10), and Butch6 bumped it by replying on 3-25-11. So I'm sure the OP is either long gone, or has done the reading by now.

As for the other funny post above:

I totally agree with chibi- a CAI and 3.4" is definitely going to knock on any L67 I've seen. You say there are 'no issues' but have you ever scanned the car for KR? You know you can't actually hear modern cars pinging because the pcm tries to pull timing before it chips a piston (which doesn't always work due to the tiny top ring land to top of piston distance to please emission standards).

If you really honestly have 0* KR all the time on that pulley and with a CAI as your only mod, then I'd say either you're running a higher octane fuel (ie unleaded race gas) or your knock sensors or wiring are dead.
