2005 SuperCharger Pulley

I have a guy at work that told me I could swap out my stock pulley on my SuperCharger for a smaller one. He stated I would get more boost and in return about 50HP. Is this true? What can I do to get more HP out of my Monte Carlo? It is a 2005. If the pulley swap is the answer, were can I go to get one and what is the rough price? I have had a lot of Mustang GT's and Cobra's and this is my first Monte Carlo. I truely love the car and would just like to do some simple, inexpensive mods to it to increase HP with harming the motor or car. Thank you very much.

yes that is true that you can swap the pulley. Having owned a cobra I am surprised that you hadn't heard that before. In order to swap pulleys you will need to do some supporting mods which will also lead to more horsepower.

Pulley Swap

My Cobra wasn't SuperCharged and I have heard of it but just never believed it. What sort of supporting mods and what sort of price tag? Thank you.

Pulley Swap

Hi Byron. If you read my first post with the question, it says a guy at work said it. I don't say I believe it. I have allways had fast cars from the jump. He stated 50 HP. I don't think so either. I also didn't give a lot of gravity to him so I didn't ask what size. I asked here thinking people would know what the heck they are talking about. As for supporting mods, if you read my second reply it says, " WHAT SUPPORTING MODS ARE NEEDED". So asking me what I am going to do is a waste of time as I don't know what they are. Thats why I asked. As I said, I have allways just bought fast cars, Mustang Cobras mainly. Maybe I should have went that route again as getting answers form people in fourms is like pissing in the wind. If you have an answer just post it . Here it is again, WHAT SUPPORTING MODS ARE NEEDED and what pulley size?????????? Also how much more HP?????????? Thats pretty plan I think.

LOL does he drive a grand-prix?

Just look at the exhaust / intake section, there's a sticky on how to build up your 3800 engine. Look at the L67 part and have fun. You will need a lot before you think about dropping pulleys. Also get a way to scan for Knock Retard (KR), you will need 0° of KR before you drop a pulley size.

Headers, ported/larger throttle body, aftermarket cam, colder air intake, 3" exhaust, colder spark plugs are all "supporting mods". Make sure you scan your KR before dropping pulley sizes though - KR = detonation = you will blow that bitch up.

180 T-stat and colder plugs are also needed.

Pulley Swap

Thanks Nitehawkjcb. That was what I was looking for. ANSWERS. If you have time, could you email me some to the things you mention in detail? I understand all of them but as far as a throttle body, what size and out of what? Exhaust I understand. Those are things I have done myself. Cold Air intake such as a K&N Cold Air Kit? Thank you again
