Default 2003 Transmission Problems

Alright this might seem like a stupid question but I am going to ask it anyways. I've got a 2003 Monte with the 3.4 V6 with around 130,580 miles on it. As far as I know the transmission has been serviced when it needed to be but the last 2 months or so the car has been shifting really hard when driven for an extended period of time. I live about 2 hours from home so when I drive home on the weekends sometimes the last 45 minutes or so the car starts to shift really hard and I can feel it clunking through first, second and third gears usually 4th is okay I don't feel it as bad but I can still feel it shifting more than I know I should. Well now today I was driving it to get it washed and the car now appears to be hesitating going from first to second gear. The car will be accelerating from a dead stop and almost seem to hesitate then will suddenly fine the correct speed and lurch forward. I'm just wondering if these are the start of transmission issues such as a transmission going or hopefully something not as serious. Any kind of help would be great thank you

Sounds like with that kinda mileage, either the shift solenoids are going, you may need a fluid filter change.
When my trans did the same thing...it was time for a rebuild....mine also had 130,000 miles on it.
You could take it to a trans shop and have them scan the trans.
If the fluid looks more brownish then reddish...
I would venture aguess...its time to get it rebuilt.

Is that the mileage when the transmissions start to go on these cars? I've had it since last September and even then it would sometimes shift really hard but it would only do it every once in a great while but now it is starting to do it more and more and I'm just wondering if that is the "norm" on these cars?

Exactly what mine started doing before it started slipping. I managed to get another 15,000 miles out of it when it started.

Default 2003 Monte Carlo 3400 V6

I have a silver 03 Monte Carlo with a 3.4 V6 engine. Car has 263,500 miles on it, and the transmission started to jerk today. I checked what I thought was the transmission dipstick. Looked more brown then red. Going to try and empty that out and put new fluid in, and see if that'll work. If not, I'll proceed to check the line pressure solenoid. Hopefully it's something minor.

Default Tranny slipping

I have a 2003 SS (99000 miles) with the same problem of high rev and it not shifting. Yet take off slow and easy it shifts fine. Took it in to be checked out today. Found out it is not the tranny. It is a performance issue. They are now (3/5/2015) hooking the car up to the diagnostic machine. So far the feeling is a clogged exhaust. Will update with more info when they are done.

Default This is exactly what mine is doing !!

If i were to say what mine is doing, i would have described it the same way. i know this thread is like 2 years old. But did changing the shift solenoids and the Pressure control solenoid fix this !? When it gets warmer im going to attempt to do it myself. i just don't wanna spend $100 on all the solenoids if it wont fix it. it just recently started doing this all the time. and from a complete stop it feels like it skips a few times than jumps into gear hard. along with the clunking between gears.

I found out want the cause of my problem. It was a clogged cat... It now runs like a champ, and it only cost me 180.00 at a muffler shop. Have yours checked out. You will be surprised.
