Did this ever get resolved? I have a similar issue. The MC sometimes smells of exhaust and it died the other day backing up a hill. It had a code for the catalytic converter, and that was changed today. Someone told me it sounds like it idles low. I'm going to check the MAF, but if that's not the issue, just wondering what to check next.
