6th Gen ('00-'05): 2002 Monte Carlo ss transmission replacement
For a little background knowledge my car has 238,000 miles. A while back my transmission started slipping and I did the typical fluid flush and filter replacement and it still slipped so I took it into a shop and they quoted me $2300 which I'm assuming covers a brand new transmission plus labor lmao. Im 19 and broke so I'm thinking another route. I contacted a guy off of Facebook marketplace for a 4t65e transmission with 90k miles. I am planning on doing the swap myself but I can't really find any guides that actually helped me understand. I want to replace the transmission without pulling the entire engine out, if possible. I've read that I can use an engine support from the top and drop the cradle and transmission that way, I was wondering which way you think would be easiest or most efficient. I don't wanna accidentally mess something up. Thanks.

I've not come across any good guides for bottom removal lately. Clubgp used to have one, but its long since deactivated (and searching it via wayback is a pain). Service manual may have info on it, but not sure if the procedure details removal from top or bottom.
My only caution is the used transmission. They aren't 100% compatible across years and models, so Id double check the vehicle its coming from is a direct swap with yours.

For example since you mention the Regal, a transmission for a 2000 regal ls with a 3800 is not a drop in replacement for a 2000 regal gs with a 3800 / nor your car. Another example are cooler fittings. The 97-00 stuff generally used threaded fittings whereas 00+ was generally quick connect.
What is the actual year/model/trim the transmission is out of?

Not enough info in the generic interchange notes.
