go get a 4 dollar key made at walmart if it doesnt start your car there is not chip. my 01 has no chip

 

When I bought my 05 SS used, it only came with 1 key & 1 remote. I bought blanks and an extra remote on ebay. I took the key blanks to my local hardware store and had them cut - I guess they were not chipped because both new keys started the car.

 

I always made the assumption my car was chipped, when I got it my current mechanic who works at a gm dealer had to make a new key since it only came with 1 key, he said the next one would run me $100.00, next time I see him I'll ask.
