Default 2001 SS white residue in exhaust

I noticed over the past several weeks that I have this white grayish residue inside the exhaust tips. When I rev the motor up I notice a little white smoke also. I have checked the coolant level and it is full. I haven't done any mods. I also have been loosing gas mileage.

The car stills runs great though and idles smoothy.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. I really hate the thought of taking it to the dealer.

Thanks

I have my money on your CAT going bad...

Any drivabilty problems? Hesitation? Especially at higher RPM's??

No problems driving, good response and no hesitation. I was thinking the 'cat' also.

Would a bad 'CAT' trip a 'check engine light' since emissions would be effected ???

It may not at the start of the problem, I've heard of some that never throw a code and still clog to the point it's not driveable. The other thing that comes to mind that could be a long shot is bad gas, but that would usually come with a bad running engine as well. Have you pulled codes on it yet? If not, I would run it by AutoZone, they will run it for free in most cases.
