Just out of curiousity, is your Monte an LS or an SS?

Also, could you describe the hesitation a little bit more?

SS when you pus on the gas pedal the rpm stays low and it sounds like its having trouble getting to a higher rpm. it also feels like there is lack of torque cuz when i add more gas theres no difference unless im going downhill.

My 2001 with the 3.4 had the same symptoms. It acted like it was bogging down on acceleration and would then eventually get up to speed. After a couple hundred miles of this I began to hear a hissing sound when accelerating. Turned out to be a plugged catalytic converter. Upon replacing the car was back to normal. Might be one thing to check.

I was also thinking something wrong with the Cat. How does your air filter look? If your air filter is fine I would assume your Cat is clogged.

Sounds like a bad cat or O2 sensor.
