Default 2000 monte carlo a/c not working right

Hey guys. I think have a dual problem here. The big problem is my a/c is blowing out air, but it isnt cold. About 1 month ago i had to add some R134a and it started blowing cold air again. Earlier this week, it went back to just hot hot air. I tried to add more r134a but when i put the gauge on to see how much charge it had, it went all the way past the red. Am i reading it wrong or hooking it up wrong? It only connects to one port (the one by the firewall, not the one by the air box)...

problem 2.. the a/c only works on setting 5 (max air) in the car. If i set to 1 through 4 it wont kick on.

any ideas or help is very much appreciated!

Problem 1, stop illegally putting R134A into a leaking system. You clearly have a leak in your car. You will have to get that properly diagnosed and fixed.

Problem 2, is probably a blower fan resistor that went bad.
