hello ,can anyone tell me why my head unit in my 2001 monte only plays part of a song then slow down garbles then spits the cd out its the unit with the cassete built into it also i was told that if i wanted to change units i could but i might need to get a code for the new unit to make it work,does the head unit run other things on the car (i.e the brains) of the car...i have another deck sony cd mp3 ect ect that i wouldnt mind putting in but i would lose the controls on the steering wheel and i think i need an adapter for the car can anyone give me some advise on this thanks todd...... i do like the stock unit i would just like it to play my mp3.....

 

yes, the unit conrols many things in the BCM, only thing that concearn the every day driver, tire pressure, oil change, so on. actualy that might be it, those are the two main ones i'm aware of. ive never tried another deck, ive heard about the code issues, but only with other GM"s ive never heard of it with this car, you might be able to just plug another unit in, i have a stock unit for my 04 monte laying around but its just the CD, not tape and cd. if you're interested let me know, its just collecting dust in a corner.
