Default 1988 SS

Hello !!

I am a brand new member and just found this forum . I am glad that I did.
I have an ' 88 SS with much modified 305 with OEM electronic Q-jet and computer. I have been entertaining the thought of replacing the present electronic carb and distributor . I would replace with std Q-jet and HEI . One of my concerns is the overdrive/lock up 200 transmission.

I would like to hear from people that have done this , their experiences and sugestions .

Thank you

if you switch over to a hei distributor and non-cc carb you will have to get a lock-up kit b&m makes them along a couple other aftermarket companies .
and with that change you can remove all the ecu harness and smog stuff to make the engine bay alot cleaner looking !

88SS408 ,

I will probably install just a std vacuum HEI . I have a Q-jet off my corvette or a spread bore Holley that I can use for a carb . Presently the engine won't start as it floods viciously and I don't want to wash the internals anymore . I hadn't started it for a year and I probably created my own problems.
