Default 06 Monte wont turn off electronics, won't start.

Sooo I just spent 3 hours taking apart my steering column... first time doing it, and well Yeah.. The issue is my key won't turn all the way into the off position, and now it won't start.

The Car is acting like its not in park, I took apart the column and Pressed the button allowing me to turn the key to the accessory off position, and I saw how on the inside of the ignition case where pressing the button allow the **** on the inside of the casing to depress allowing the key to turn off..

But I am still stuck... if its my car not reconizing my car is park... I don't see other then the button where it would send that info... I really don't know where to proceed any info would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Mine has done this when the battery is almost dead. Idk if that is your issue but seems to never fail when mine is really low after I try to turn it over it doesn't want to let me get the ignition switch back to off and gets stuck on ACC. A charge fixes it for me.

Well according to the battery charger im using it shows my battery on charged... The Key sticking on accessory was a precurser tho.. a few nights ago it would not turn the accessory's off so I would have to jiggle it alittle.. then it would. Next day at work it would not turn off and I didnt have the tools needed to disconnect the negative so it died.

I got jumped that night and drove home, when I got home I disconnected the battery and the next day I reattached and thats when it would not start

In the right front corner of the motor there are several grounds that are behind one bolt. Check and make sure they are tight. Easiest thing to do before anything else.

As you are looking at it. It is at the right front (driver's side), and very easy to get to. Just shine a light and you will see several wires all terminating at one place. My car was going crazy for a while until I found it.
