Default ARP Head Studs

Hello, I’ve searched an haven’t come across a clear solution for a ARP rear manafold bolts that interfere with clearance of exhaust manifold. I’m running a factory rear manifold. I’m stuck in the middle of putting my Top swapped Monte back together.

I just used stock bolts and they fit fine... Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

Every idea counts. Does this mean you partially use ARP studs and use factory for the rear or are you saying you use factory bolts all together?

I don't think I've seen anyone running ARP exhaust bolts on a 3800 before. Honestly didn't even know they existed.

Just curious- why not just run stock hardware, especially with stock manifolds?

I re-read my post. Maybe, I wasn’t clear. I’m referring to ARP Head Bolts. The studs block the path for proper mounting of exhaust manifold.

There’s a YouTuber called TerrellSmith who just recently broke 572whp with a highly modified 3800. He uses ARP studs. He has custom headers though which is why I’m sure he’s not having the same issue I’m having. I didn’t know the studs was an issue until I started putting the factory exhaust manifold on.

I like that ARP studs are reusable.

That’s cool, I may use the factory bolts for the rear and keep the rest ARP since I already got the heads and intake together. Thanks for the feedback.

I’m also having hood clearance issues with the intercooler I’m installing. I envisioned a factory hood with this build but it’s apparent that I will have to have a modified hood. Do anyone recall a red 5 Gen With the supercharger poking out the hood from the past. In the past I did not understand why it was sticking out the hood like that but unfortunately I understand now. Lol I have an hood modification idea that I’ve never seen done on a 5th Gen to solve the clearance issue. Once I get the Monte Carlo back running. I will begin fabricating a hood.

The red 5th gen was a DOHC 3.4 with an M90 on it IIRC...

I never had a stock hood with this engine so I'm not sure what the clearance would have been. Don't get me wrong, my cowl is not functional or cut out. Have you removed the hood's heat shield to see if it fits?

Thats cool that you knew what I was talking about. Yes, I removed the heat shield. Unfortunately it’s still not enough space. I’m in the process of brainstorming a way to make the hood I have in mind. I plan on making a custom hood.
