Alright, I’m rarely ever on these forums but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to seek some advice. My 2005 Monte Carlo SS has been something I have been fixing up for almost a year now. I have never been able to find the part needed to fix the shifter boot, I have no idea what it is called or where I can find it but if anyone on here can tell me what I need to fix this properly it would be of great help. I have included a picture below.
Also yes I know my car is a mess I’m getting ready to clean it before winter hits, but I’d like to fix this first.
The piece around the shifter boot is not sold separately so you have to buy the whole top console. You might want to consider the junkyard too, probably $10 there. They're the same 2000-2005 except some have a functional, lighted gear indicator beside the shifter.
So i was searching online for the gear shift indicator console, as far as i can tell you have to buy the whole console in order to get this perticuliar piece. I wasn't having any luck after cleaning the soda out of mine. I actually bonded the peices which were plastic back together and was able to use it again! I did have luck finding the car at a U- Pick it and got plenty off the one there really cheap!!! Best of luck to you!
