Ok. Heres the update tha actual two major codes were the po1811 and a po742. The torque converter was/is the issue and took out an internal valve in the tranny. It's going to be a rebuild to get the car back on the road. The silvr lining is that the new parts (4 valves) correct the factory design flaws of having to the valve ride on bare aluminium. The upgrade/rebuild will use aircraft aluminium and upgraded valve designs to keep the chambers from becoming eggshaaped and losing pressure.
The cost $1,800 to $2,000 dollars with the upgrades and labor. good thing is the car will be better than before (I hope) and it will then pass down to my daughter in three years and I know she'll have a strong running car. Oh, and it needs a thermostat which I'll do and an O2 sensor which I had already and the mechanic will install for free for me.
If your car starts whifting hard and you can't fix it yourself like some others get it looked at as soon as possible and hopfully it won't need a full rebuild.

Well, it kinda blows that you have to rebuild it, but what can you do!
But it is cool that it will be fixed, and fixed the right way, and for good!
I think it is worth the money to fix it, especially if you plan on keeping the car for a while, and it sounds like you do plan on keeping it!
