You can unplug the MAF and start it to see if it is the MAF sensor.

When you try to start the car can you give it gas and keep it alive? That could be the IAC sensor also.

I can give it gas and it will not hold. Haven't tried to un plug the maf and see if it will crank. But when it was running i unplug the maf and it shut off.

You can try cleaning the MAF sensor (any autoparts store sells a MAF cleaner spray) it is important to use something specifically for the MAF so you don't damage it, also don't touch the sensor wire with ANYTHING, not even a q-tip or blow dryer. Spray it and let it air dry completely before reinstalling.

Also you should check the wiring to your O2 sensor, since that code is displayed when it gets a low voltage reading for 2 minutes. The sensor COULD be bad, but the wiring to the sensor could also be torn.

I replaced the 02 and maf sensors still getting code 0171 and the car is doing the same thing

Enlight of some of my experiences with those codes (in my case resulting from some mods), the brand of O2 sensor you install could play into it. THe guy I refer to as my GM Guru (he works as a GM mechanic) told me that his BEST experiences with O2s was using AC Delco or Delphi.
He said Bosch, Denso and other after markets may work, but they may not share the longevitiy or may throw different codes (the O2 can be kinda flaky).
