01 Monte Carlo SS Rear Defogger Not Working
I've seen all kinds of posts and questions on the net regarding this same problem. But never found a solution. I was wondering if anyone ever has had this problem.
My rear window defogger does not work. Since I owned the car I don't believe it ever has. Of course I found out this fall when I went to defog the rear window. It didn't work.
I found one of the terminals on the rear grid was not connected. I was sucessful in re attaching it. Using one of those tab attachment kits.
Still didn't work. I got out my volt meter and turned it on and checked voltage across at the terminals. 0 Volts when on.
I've checked the fuses including the 60 amp fuse under the hood. All good. I've found the relay. But have no idea if it's good or not. I see there is also a 30 amp circuit breaker. It is on the passenger side on the end of the dash board. However it has a single cover on top of it held on by a 9/32 bolt. When you lossen that to take the cover off it just pulls out the whole block assembly to a point and that's it. Still can't access the circuit breaker to take a look at it.
Has anyone had this problem and been able to resolve it? Seems to be a common problem with what I see with the Monte Carlo and Impalas. I appreciate anyones help!

Maybe. But that dose not explain the 0 volts at the connectors. Something farther up the line is doing that. Either the relay, circuit breaker or switch would be my guess.Fuses are all good.Light comes on at the switch when turned on and times out after ten minutes.

considering this post is 10 years old kinda doubt it helped. Though an actual explanation of fix would be better, like what was behind to fuse box. A broken wire? Circuit breaker? Or a shiny unicorn?
