jaws. your opinion has now been given! lol.

just ordered my 0 guage.. cant wait to get this all in working order!
ive seen 4 in the past few months. not to rare.

heres a 4.150 thats on the market right now

Alpine PDX 4.150 - DIYMA.com - Scientific Car Audio - Truth in Sound Quality

his price is a little high IMO< i'd start with a 220$ offer. i paid 200$ for a used first gen PDX 4.150 amp not to long ago. maybe 4 months ago. not sure if their are any 1.1000's about but perhaps.

edit : i looked around, the member over on diyma.com nineball has a 1.600, which will be more like 700 realisticly, maybe 500sh with proper gain settings. i'd say that will be PLENTY for 2 type R's.

So the 1.600 will be more like 700rms realistically, but maybe 500ish with "proper" gain settings? I'm confused. I understand that those amps are underrated but I don't understand how setting the gain properly will result in it putting out 100rms under it's rated power when it can realistically put out more than rated. Also, the Type R's are rated at 500rms each, if I remember correctly, so you're saying 500ish would be PLENTY for a pair of them?

I respectfully disagree.

I know those amps are underrated but a properly set gain will ensure that if given enough voltage it will put out rated power and then some. However, you can adjust the gain down accordingly (using the gain setting chart) so that it can only do 500 if you choose. I also don't think 500rms is enough for a pair of Type R's....the only way I'd run that little power on those subs is if they were going into a T-line box but good luck getting a T-line for 2 12's to fit in the trunk. I can't comment on the Polk subs suggested as I've never heard them but I know for a fact the Type R's will put a smile on your face and will cost roughly half of what those Polks would. For that money, I can think of quite a few other subs I'd go with over a Polk. The Type R's are easily one of the best bang for your buck subs out there. In a proper enclosure, sealed or ported, these things get down and are damn near indestructible.

im not looking for a 4Ch amp. i just bought one of those about 2 weeks ago and it is twice as loud as before. and im definitely not gonna run 2 type Rs off of 500watts. might as well just run one at that point. if i bought a new amp id be looking to get rid of my m500 so i could run Both subs at 500Rms each. so like a mrp1000 or something. but ill probably just buy another mrp 500 and run 3 amps.

Just something else for you to ponder....those Type R's can handle well over rated power, I have a buddy running two 12's on a SAZ-1500 @1 ohm for about 2yrs now with no issues.

Nothing wrong with that at all. I didnt do a 160 in anything.... There was a guy claiming he did mid to high 150's on 2 15's in a sealed box on 1000 watts out of his trunk, I called him out on it so to prove to me he did it he posted a closely cropped pic of the scrren of a laptop showing a mid 150 TL score and one of his cheerleaders stuck up for him and cited his "proof" so I just wanted to show him how easy it is to make bs claims online complete with "proof".

I see what your saying

He must have mounted the box right on the dash or in the kick.. not saying 2 15's sealed couldnt do a 150, but its going to take alot more then 1000w and a ton of testing.

Im on a mission to pull a 145+ on a single 12 in a daily tuned box.

Im changing up the setup including electrical, i want to play be able to play for 3min at full tilt and not have to worry.
