Default Stepper Motor Replacement

Well i've come to the conclusion that the stepper motor in my speedo is just about done for in my 04. Since BBEngineering closed, is there any other place that i could send my cluster to for work or am i on my own?

Can you complain to the dealership? You just got the thing!

If the car was bought "as is" and no warranty, the dealership probably won't do anything, but it could be worth calling. A failed speedo is pretty crappy on a car less then 30 days that you paid top dollar for.

Otherwise, I believe buried on MCF is some info about buying a replacement stepper motor from eBay and how to replace it. I know the cluster comes apart fairly easy with no tools required.

Google lemon law of whatever state you bought it in. I took full advantage of NY's when I got a crappy Grand Cherokee right after high school. A break light went, among other small things, about a week after. The dealer took care of it.

I'd approach the dealer ship you bought it from. If they are unwilling to help resolve this, I would make a point to politely state "It's sad I pay top dollar for this, you don't budge on the price, I still have 30 day tags on it and I'm already having problems".

I also believe most locations have a law when dealing with a dealership, you have 30s you could still return the car (you'd have to look that one up).

Be polite and give it a shot.

Maybe the instrument cluster is included in the 'safety' portion of your warranty? I mean, it can't be very safe driving a car you have no idea how fast you're going, right?

If it ends up on your shoulders there are several repair kits and services offered on FeePay:

Lemon laws only apply if it's been fixed and it remains having issues, usually applying to new vehicles moreso than used, since used are sold AS-IS.

If you know how to solder they're fairly easy to do yourself

There are used car lemon laws as well that vary from state to state to protect buyers from getting screwed. However, just poked around Google and CT's only covers vehicles that are under 7 years old. I would still contact the dealer about it.
