Static through radio when I have the rear defroster on
I have a 2006 2LT and whenever I have the rear defroster on, the only thing I can get through the radio is static. As soon as I turn it off, the radio reception returns to normal. Is this normal for this to happen?

well the antenna in these vehicles is in rear windshield, im not really sure if its common but it does kind of make sense that it would be static

With the defroster off, reception is perfect. And yes, I know that the antenna is in the rear window. One of my friends leased a G6 that had the opposite thing as this happen to it; whenever he had the defroster on, reception got better. I will look for the connection though and check to see if it is loose.

Well, is this something that I can do for under $100, or should I just have the dealer look at it? It has to go in to the dealer anyways for the recall on the power steering lines. I was thinking about having them look at it then or just asking the guys at the parts counter. The parts counter guys were really helpful when I was trying to find out what was causing the p0455 code to be thrown out. They basically gave me the printout with exploded views and what goes wrong most often with the vehicles they have seen with that code. Instead of paying $300 for labor plus the $35 part I only had to pay for the part and it only took 5mins to install.

This is kind of off topic, but the part that I replaced for the p0455 code was the charcoal canister and evap solenoid unit. I have a whole thread on this, in the general tech area, I think. Just do a search for p0455. When my car goes in for the recall on the power steering lines, I am going to ask them about the static when the defroster is on.
