if im readiing this right yes you can do it
go to your local radio store and ask for the bass caps or base blockers. some places call them diffrent but what tey do is take the positive wire in to teh speacker and filter out the lows tha the speaker cant handel . if you tel themwhat you have you can get the right size theya re like 4-5 bucks each you will need one for each speaker you have and also dont take all of the base out of the front leave some in so you still ahve the sound imaging in your ca.r

true story.

Although, I'd only run it like this for as short a time as possible. What I would suggest you do is get a nice 1/2 DIN EQ w/crossover and hook it up. Not only will it solve your current problem, it will make your system sound better and hit harder and it's something you won't throw away as you build and upgrade your system. I had a Clarion EQS560 that I bought for $40 brand new and it was perfect for this exact situation. It didn't hurt that it matched my Clarion head unit

dangit, I knew you were gonna ask me that. I did get it online, but it wasn't ebay, it was a retailer out of New York. I just threw away the receipt a few weeks ago, let me search around and see if I can find the place for you. But yeah, they are that cheap if you shop around.
