Scuff marks from seatbelt latches?
Hey everyone,
While trying to clean up the inside of my new Monte I have come across something that I am not sure how to fix and I am sure that it happens to everyone so I thought I would ask here.
On both the driver and passenger side, where the seatbelt clicks in has left some scuffs along the center console. Which I will assume was caused by having multiple drivers (One of which who likes to basically sit in the back seat to drive). Anyone know how to clean up that plastic?
Pretty much a noob when it comes to auto care, which is why I am excited to get the new radio head unit I ordered so I can do something I know a bit about (Will make a thread later about that)
You can see what I am talking about in this pic

suede lol jk thats what i did to mine at least. i believe all montes have that problem. but you have to remove your seat buckcles, heat up the sleeve that they're in with a heat gun and bend them towards your seats and away from the console. dont melt them though haha
that should move them away from the console so nomore rubbing issues
see no more rubbing

Yeah, that is a crappy issue with these and MANY other GM cars (my '94 Grand Am has the same problem). Had GM put carpet on that location (like they did on my '84 Camaro), no one would pay attention to it.

There were minor scratches in mine (that I attempted to clean up when I took my seats out). But when I put my new leather ones in I noticed they're a tad wider and rub the console pretty good now.
Quick temporary fix you could try to put some sort of padding on the seat belt buckle so it won't dig into the console so bad when the seats move.

I've been wondering the same thing with mine. Not so much on the driver-side (since the seat never gets moved forward and back), but my passenger side of the center console is scuffed where the seat belt touches it. It looks like more of a transfer discoloration than actual cuts or scratches. The belt latches in the 06-07's are a bit different (seem beefier, like the seats) than the 6th Gens. Also, If I can remember correctly, the latches in the 6th Gens actually have a slight angle into the seat, whereas the 06-07's are basically straight.
As you can see, my driver side looks fine.

You would be amazed how different the 06/07 interior feels though. I don't find it as comfortable.
I was going to joke around and say well Frank used suede... but he already posted that!!
Since it is scratches in plastic, you really don't have much you can do. You can probably get a plastic dye and dye the scratches, but you do need some kind of protection on either the buckle or the console.

Mine had these aswell, I am pulling all interior and doing a deep clean, while I'm at it I plan to use a mall amount of heat to make I pliable and find somthing that had a like texture and press them together, then while I have the seats out I plan on placing a felt pad of some sort onto the latch it's self so that way it will not do it again
