Default Remote Start

When i bought my 05 MC it came with a keypad for remote start and keyless entry to doors and trunk.

I live right by a Highschool and in a neighborhood. Twice now id go out side and my cars running, My keys are hanging so i know buttn was never pressed. Is this cause someone else has same keypad on same channel or is it a short in the remote start system causing it to just start up.

Im not too worried as it does shut off after lik 10-15 mins.

I'd say it's a glitch within the remote start itself, causing it to start. The remote starts have to be programmed to fool the car into thinking your key is what started the car, so it's not someone else with the same frequency.

Pull the plug on the module - where that is, all depends on who installed it. Mine is under the dash on the drivers side. But if it's a bad module, the only way to fix it is to either replace it or just disconnect it and don't use it anymore.

YOU COULD TRY:

Opening the drivers door...turn the ignition key to on position(dont start the car) and then turn the key off (remove it)and then close the door lock and reset the alarm...and wait 30 secs...then try the auto start...

Thats how some of the after market alarms are reset...

Maybe the batterys lo in the key fob?

Is it a DEI or Viper Product? Look under the drivers side dash and see if you can locate the brain.

How much do trust your remote alarm system? I think, you must be aware of hacking activity. Most people think remote start and remote keyless entry devices are safe. Think again, because they are simpler to get around than most would realize. It's been confirmed several times, by both car thieves and experts searching for security gaps that it's much easier to get into than some people realize.

I have an 04 Monte soon to install alarm. Am I goin to need a bypass module? I know most cars need it when the key has a chip.
